Getting Started
Which type of hosting should I choose?
- Shared hosting is for websites, online stores and business email. We look after the server; you manage your sites from cPanel. This is the right choice for most people.
- VPS is your own virtual server with full control. Choose it when you need to install your own software, run apps or bots, or need resources that are only yours.
- Dedicated server is a whole physical machine just for you, for heavy work, many large sites or lots of storage.
Not sure? Tell us what you want to run and we will suggest a plan.
What happens after I order?
- Pay the first invoice. It is in your email and in your client area.
- When your service is ready, we send a welcome email with your login details. For shared hosting that is your cPanel login; for a VPS or dedicated server it is the server's IP address, username and password.
- For a website: point your domain to us, then upload your site or install WordPress, and create your email addresses.
Can't find the welcome email? Check your spam folder. You can also see every email we sent you in the client area under Emails.
What is the client area and what can I do there?
The client area at clients.finjanhost.com is your account with us. Log in with your email address and password. There you can:
- see and pay your invoices,
- see your services and open cPanel with one click,
- open and reply to support tickets,
- manage your domains (nameservers, auto-renew),
- upgrade or cancel a service,
- change your contact details and password.
Forgot your password? Click Forgot password? on the login page and we email you a reset link.
Can you move my website from my old host for free?
Yes. Moving your sites is free with every shared hosting plan. Here is how:
- Order the plan that fits your site.
- Open a ticket and send us the login for your old hosting control panel (cPanel is easiest), or a full backup file. Tell us which websites and email addresses to move.
- We copy your files, databases and email accounts, and check that the site works on our server.
- Then the domain is pointed to us. We tell you exactly what to change, or do it for you.
Keep your old hosting active until we tell you the move is finished, so your site stays online the whole time.
How do I contact support, and how fast do you reply?
- WhatsApp +90 537 423 8829: the fastest way, during working hours.
- Support ticket from your client area: best for technical and billing problems. We usually reply within 2 hours.
- Email support@finjanhost.com. Questions before you buy: sales@finjanhost.com.
Critical problems, such as a site that is down, are handled 24/7. To get help faster, include your domain name, what you were doing, and the exact error message or a screenshot.
Domains & DNS
How do I point my domain to my hosting?
Change your domain's nameservers to ours:
ns1.finjanhost.comns2.finjanhost.com
You make this change at the company where you registered the domain. If you registered it with us, it is already done. You can check or change it in the client area under Domains, Nameservers.
The change usually works within a few hours, but can take up to 24 hours to reach everyone. Your free SSL certificate is added automatically after that.
Can I keep my DNS somewhere else, like Cloudflare?
Yes. Leave your nameservers as they are and add these records at your DNS provider. Your server IP address is in your welcome email.
- A record for
@(your domain) pointing to your server IP. - A record for
wwwpointing to the same IP (or a CNAME to your domain). - For email: an A record for
mailpointing to your server IP, and an MX record pointing tomail.yourdomain.com. - For email to reach inboxes: copy the SPF and DKIM records shown in cPanel under Email Deliverability.
Not sure which records you need? Open a ticket and we will list them for you.
How do I register a new domain?
Use Find a domain on our home page, or log in to the client area and go to Domains, Register a New Domain. Search for the name, add it to your cart and pay. The domain is registered in your name as soon as the payment is confirmed, and it already uses our nameservers.
How do I transfer my domain to FinjanHost?
First, at your current registrar:
- unlock the domain,
- get the transfer code (also called EPP or auth code),
- check that the domain is at least 60 days old and was not transferred in the last 60 days,
- check that the email address on the domain works, because you may need to approve the transfer.
Then in the client area go to Domains, Transfer Domains to Us, enter the domain and the code, and pay. A transfer takes up to 5 to 7 days. For most domains, one year is added to the expiry date. Your website keeps working during the transfer.
Do I get a free domain?
Yes, with Professional or Business shared hosting on a 1-year or 2-year plan. You get one .com domain free for the first year, as a new registration or a transfer.
- After the first year it renews at the normal .com price.
- It is not included on the Basic plan or on monthly billing.
- If you cancel within the 30-day money-back period, the domain's normal price is taken off your refund. The domain stays yours.
How do I renew my domain, and what if it expires?
We email you a renewal invoice before your domain expires. Pay it and the domain is renewed. You can also renew early in the client area under Domains.
If a domain expires, the website and email on it stop working. Renew it as soon as you can: after a short grace period, getting an expired domain back costs more, and after that it can be lost for good.
How do I add another website to my plan?
- In cPanel, open Domains and click Create A New Domain.
- Type the domain name.
- Untick Share document root so the new site gets its own folder.
- Click Submit, then point the domain to us.
Your plan allows up to 10 websites on Basic, 50 on Professional and 150 on Business.
How do I create a subdomain, like shop.yourdomain.com?
In cPanel, open Domains, click Create A New Domain, type the full subdomain (for example shop.yourdomain.com) and click Submit. It gets its own folder, and its free SSL is added automatically.
Basic includes up to 25 subdomains. Professional and Business have no limit.
How do I change DNS records (A, CNAME, MX, TXT)?
If your domain uses our nameservers, open Zone Editor in cPanel and click Manage next to your domain. From there you can add, edit or delete records. For example:
- a TXT record to verify your domain with Google or Microsoft,
- a CNAME record to point a subdomain to another service.
Most changes work within a few hours. Be careful with MX records: changing them sends your email somewhere else.
How do I create a business email address?
- In cPanel, open Email Accounts and click Create.
- Choose the address (like
you@yourdomain.com) and a strong password. - Click Create.
You can read it right away in webmail, or add it to your phone or Outlook. Every shared plan includes unlimited email accounts.
How do I set up my email on my phone or in Outlook?
The easiest way: in cPanel, open Email Accounts, click Connect Devices next to the address, and follow the settings shown there. iPhone and Mac users can download a ready-made setup file from the same page.
To set it up by hand, choose IMAP and use:
| Username | your full email address |
|---|---|
| Password | the password of that email account |
| Incoming server | mail.yourdomain.com, IMAP, port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing server | mail.yourdomain.com, SMTP, port 465, SSL/TLS, with sign-in turned on (same username and password) |
Use IMAP rather than POP3, so your mail stays the same on all your devices. If your device warns about the certificate, use the server name shown on the Connect Devices page instead of mail.yourdomain.com.
How do I read my email in a browser?
Go to yourdomain.com/webmail and sign in with your full email address and its password. You can also open it from cPanel: Email Accounts, then Check Email next to the address.
I forgot my email password. How do I reset it?
In cPanel, open Email Accounts, click Manage next to the address, type a new password and click Update Email Settings. Then enter the new password on each phone or computer that uses this address.
My emails are going to spam. What can I do?
- In cPanel, open Email Deliverability. If a domain shows a problem, click Manage and then Repair. This sets up SPF and DKIM, which prove your mail is really from you. If your DNS is somewhere else, copy the records shown there to your DNS provider.
- Don't send newsletters or large mailings from your normal mailbox. See sending limits.
- Ask the people you write to, to mark your message as Not spam.
Still a problem? Open a ticket with the address you sent to and the time you sent it. We check the mail log and tell you what happened.
Is there a limit on how many emails I can send?
Yes. Each domain can send up to 500 emails per hour. The limit protects the server's reputation, so everyone's email keeps reaching inboxes. Messages over the limit are not sent, and you get a notice back.
Sending also pauses if too many of your messages fail, for example when a list has many addresses that no longer exist.
Only send email to people who asked to receive it. For newsletters to a large list, use a newsletter service such as Mailchimp or Brevo. See our Acceptable Use Policy.
How do I forward email or set an automatic reply?
- Forward: in cPanel, open Forwarders, click Add Forwarder, choose the address and where to send its mail.
- Automatic reply (for example, when you are on holiday): open Autoresponders, click Add Autoresponder, write your message and set when it starts and stops.
My mailbox is full. How do I get more space?
Each email address has its own storage limit. In cPanel, open Email Accounts, click Manage next to the address, and raise Allocated Storage Space (or set it to Unlimited). The space comes from your plan's total storage.
You can also free space by deleting old emails with large attachments and emptying the Trash folder.
cPanel & Hosting
Where do I log in to cPanel?
- From the client area: open your hosting service and click Log in to cPanel. No password needed.
- Or go to
yourdomain.com/cpaneland use the username and password from your welcome email.
If your domain doesn't point to us yet, use the cPanel link in your welcome email. Forgot the password? Reset it from your service in the client area, or message us.
How do I install WordPress?
- In cPanel, open the WordPress installer (WordPress Toolkit or Softaculous).
- Click Install and choose your domain.
- Set your site title, admin username and a strong password.
It takes about a minute. Our servers run LiteSpeed, so install the free LiteSpeed Cache plugin to make your site faster.
How do I upload my website files?
- File Manager: in cPanel, open File Manager, go to
public_html(your main domain) or the folder of the domain, and click Upload. For many files, upload one .zip file and use Extract. - FTP: create a login in cPanel under FTP Accounts, then connect with a program like FileZilla. Server: your domain name, port 21, and choose FTP over TLS for a secure connection.
Your home page file must be named index.html or index.php.
How do I create a database?
- In cPanel, open MySQL Database Wizard.
- Name the database, then create a database user with a strong password.
- Give that user All Privileges and finish.
In your website's settings, use localhost as the database host. Names start with your cPanel username, for example username_shop. To view or edit data, use phpMyAdmin. Basic includes 25 databases; Professional and Business have no limit.
How do I change the PHP version or PHP settings?
In cPanel, type PHP in the search box and open Select PHP Version (or MultiPHP Manager). Choose the version your website needs. In the Options tab you can change settings such as memory_limit and upload_max_filesize.
Check which PHP version your website or plugins support before you change it.
What do the limits on my plan mean?
| Basic | Professional | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Websites | 10 | 50 | 150 |
| NVMe storage | 25 GB | 60 GB | 120 GB |
| Files and folders | 250,000 | 600,000 | 1,200,000 |
| CPU power | 1.5 cores | 2 cores | 4 cores |
| RAM | 2 GB | 3 GB | 4 GB |
| Visitors at once | 25 | 40 | 60 |
| Disk speed | 10 MB/s | 15 MB/s | 20 MB/s |
| Databases | 25 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Email accounts | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Bandwidth | Unmetered (fair use) | ||
- CPU power and RAM are shared by all the websites on your plan.
- Visitors at once is how many page requests your sites can handle at the very same moment. It is not visitors per day: each request takes only a moment, so far more people can use your site over a day.
- Files and folders counts every file, folder and email message in your account.
When a site reaches a limit, it slows down or briefly shows 508 Resource Limit Is Reached. See your usage in cPanel under Resource Usage. If you often reach a limit, move to a bigger plan.
My website is slow or shows an error. What should I check?
- 508 Resource Limit Is Reached: your plan's limit was reached. Turn on a cache plugin (LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress), remove plugins you don't use, and see plan limits.
- 500 Internal Server Error: usually a broken plugin, theme or
.htaccessfile. Undo your last change, or rename thepluginsfolder in WordPress to switch all plugins off and test. - 403 Forbidden: often wrong permissions. Files should be
644and folders755. - Site can't be reached: check that your domain has not expired and uses our nameservers.
Still stuck? Open a ticket with your domain and the error message.
How do I download my own backup?
In cPanel, open Backup:
- Download a Full Account Backup saves everything in one file. We email you when it is ready. It is saved in your account, so download it and then delete it there, because it uses your storage.
- Or download just your Home Directory (website files) or a single database.
Keep the copy on your computer or in cloud storage.
How do I run a task on a schedule (cron job)?
In cPanel, open Cron Jobs. Choose how often it should run, enter the command (for example php /home/username/public_html/script.php) and click Add New Cron Job. Replace username with your cPanel username.
Can I move to a bigger plan?
Yes, at any time. In the client area, open your hosting service and choose Upgrade/Downgrade. You only pay the difference for the rest of your billing period. Nothing moves and your site stays online.
Want to move from shared hosting to a VPS? Open a ticket and we will help you plan the move.
Security
How do I get SSL (HTTPS) for my site?
Every shared plan includes free SSL certificates that renew by themselves, for every domain and subdomain. They are added automatically once the domain points to us. That can take a few hours after you change the nameservers.
- Check the status in cPanel under SSL/TLS Status.
- To send every visitor to the secure version, open Domains in cPanel and switch on Force HTTPS Redirect.
Need a certificate that shows your verified company name (OV or EV)? Ask us.
How do I keep my account safe?
- Use a strong, different password for the client area, cPanel, WordPress and each email address.
- Turn on Two-Factor Authentication in cPanel (under Security).
- Keep WordPress, themes and plugins up to date, and delete the ones you don't use.
- Don't share your cPanel login. Create separate FTP or email accounts for the people who need them.
- Be careful with unexpected emails asking you to pay or log in. When in doubt, go straight to
clients.finjanhost.cominstead of clicking the link.
Do you protect my site from hackers and malware?
Yes. Our servers run Imunify360, which blocks attacks and scans for malware, and every account is kept separate from the others, so a problem in one account can't spread to yours. Malware that is found may be cleaned or moved aside automatically, and we contact you when you need to act.
This protection works best together with your part: keeping your website software updated and using strong passwords.
I think my website was hacked. What should I do?
- Change your passwords: cPanel, WordPress admin, FTP and email.
- Check for API tokens. In cPanel, open Manage API Tokens (under Security) and delete any token you did not create. A token lets someone control your account without a password, so changing passwords alone does not lock them out.
- In WordPress, remove admin users, plugins and Application Passwords (in each user's profile) that you don't recognise, and update everything.
- Open a ticket. We can scan your account and restore a clean backup from before the problem started.
- After a restore, update everything and change the passwords once more.
How do I report spam, phishing or abuse?
Email abuse@finjanhost.com with the website address or domain, what happened, and for spam the full email headers. We look into every report.
Billing
How can I pay?
All prices are in US dollars. You can pay by card (Visa, Mastercard), PayPal, bank transfer or Western Union, and cash in hand in some places. No foreign card is needed. The options you can use are shown on each invoice in your client area. If you want to pay a way you don't see there, message us.
Will my price go up when I renew?
- Shared hosting on 1 year or 2 years: your first term has a discount. Each plan card shows both prices: "You pay $… today" and "After that, $…". What you see there is what you pay.
- Shared hosting on monthly billing: the same price every month.
- VPS and dedicated servers: renew at the same price.
There are no hidden fees. The only setup fee is on dedicated servers paid monthly. See setup fees.
Is it cheaper to pay for a longer period?
- Shared hosting: yes. The biggest saving is on 2 years. The switch above the plans shows how much you save.
- VPS and dedicated: paying yearly saves about 15% compared with monthly, and on dedicated servers there is no setup fee.
Longer periods are paid in full at the start.
When do I get my renewal invoice, and what if I pay late?
We email your renewal invoice about 20 days before the due date. You can also see it in the client area.
If it is still unpaid 5 days after the due date, the service is suspended: the website and email stop working. Pay the invoice and the service comes back. If it doesn't come back within an hour, message us.
Please don't leave a service unpaid for long. Services that stay unpaid can be removed, together with their data.
How does the 30-day money-back guarantee work?
If you are not happy with your shared hosting, tell us within 30 days of your first payment and we refund the hosting fee.
- It covers new shared hosting orders, not renewals.
- Domains, SSL certificates, setup fees, VPS and dedicated servers are not refunded.
- If your plan came with a free domain, its normal price is taken off the refund. The domain stays yours.
To ask for a refund, open a ticket or email support@finjanhost.com. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
How do I cancel a service?
- In the client area, open the service and click Request Cancellation.
- Choose End of Billing Period to keep using it until the time you paid for ends, or Immediate.
Cancel before the renewal date so no new invoice is due. Download a backup first, because your data is deleted when the service ends. Domains are separate: to stop a domain renewing, turn off auto-renew under Domains.
Why is there a setup fee on dedicated servers?
A dedicated server is a physical machine prepared just for you. When you pay monthly, a one-time setup fee is added to the first invoice: $99.90, or $179.90 for Dedicated Ultra. When you pay yearly, there is no setup fee.
Shared hosting and VPS have no setup fees.
Can I earn money by recommending FinjanHost?
Yes. Join our affiliate program for free. You earn 20% of the first invoice of every customer you refer, get a $10 bonus when you join, and can withdraw once you have $25.
VPS & Dedicated
What is the difference between VPS Standard, Performance and Windows?
- VPS Standard: Linux, with the best price for the resources you get. SSD storage.
- VPS Performance: Linux, with powerful processors and fast NVMe storage, for busy sites, shops and databases.
- VPS Windows: Windows Server with the license included. You connect with Remote Desktop.
Under VPS Performance you may also see Limited availability plans. We have only a few of these; when they run out, the button shows Sold out — back soon.
Every VPS comes with full root (or administrator) access and 1 dedicated IPv4 address.
How do I connect to my VPS or dedicated server?
Your welcome email has the server's IP address, username and password.
- Linux: connect with SSH. On a Mac or Linux computer open Terminal; on Windows open PowerShell. Type
ssh root@YOUR-SERVER-IPand enter the password. - Windows VPS: open Remote Desktop Connection on Windows (or the Windows App on a Mac or phone), enter the IP address, then the username and password from the email.
Change the password after your first login.
Which operating system can I choose?
You choose it on the order page:
- Linux VPS: Ubuntu 26.04, 24.04 or 22.04 LTS, AlmaLinux 10 or 9, Rocky Linux 10 or 9, and Debian 13 or 12.
- Windows VPS: Windows Server, with the license included.
- Dedicated servers: AlmaLinux 10, 9 or 8, Rocky Linux 10, 9 or 8, Ubuntu 26.04, 24.04 or 22.04 LTS, Debian 13 or 12, CentOS Stream 10 or 9, openSUSE 16, and Arch Linux.
Want cPanel? cPanel only runs on AlmaLinux 10, 9 or 8 and Ubuntu 24.04. It does not run on Rocky Linux, Debian, CentOS Stream, openSUSE, Arch Linux, or on Ubuntu 22.04 or 26.04. Not sure? Choose AlmaLinux, the most common system for cPanel.
You can change the system later, but reinstalling erases everything on the server. Take a backup first, then open a ticket.
Can I get cPanel on my VPS?
Yes, on any Linux VPS. Choose a cPanel License on the order page:
| License | cPanel accounts | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | 1 | $34.99 |
| Admin | up to 5 | $41.99 |
| Pro | up to 30 | $64.99 |
| Premier | up to 100 | $84.99 |
- On yearly billing, the license costs 12 times the monthly price.
- Choose AlmaLinux 10, AlmaLinux 9 or Ubuntu 24.04 as the operating system. cPanel does not run on the others (see which systems you can choose).
- You can add cPanel later from your service in the client area. cPanel must be installed on a fresh system, so the server is reinstalled and everything on it is erased. Take a backup first.
- cPanel is not available on Windows VPS. For a dedicated server, ask us.
Are VPS and dedicated servers backed up?
Every VPS includes automatic backups of the whole server. To restore one, open a ticket and tell us which day you need.
Dedicated servers do not include backups, so set up your own. We are happy to advise.
Whatever you use, keep your own copy of important data too.
What network do dedicated servers come with?
Every dedicated server has a 1 Gbit/s port with unlimited traffic at no extra cost, and 1 dedicated IPv4 address. Use must follow our Acceptable Use Policy.
No answer matches that. Try another word, or ask us directly.
